If you’ve caught us behind the decks at a local fundraiser, or heard our name drift across the room at a packed comedy night, you already know RoLo Entertainment. What you may not know is that the outfit you thought you knew (from the birth of Tappan That Sound to date) has been quietly reinventing itself — and this time, the ambition is louder than the speakers.
For nearly two decades (and then some), Roger and I have been fixtures in the Grant County, Indiana, DJ and karaoke scene. We’ve logged the kind of hours that don’t show up on a résumé — the late sets, the last-minute venue swaps or weather delays, the thousand small decisions that separate a forgettable night from one people actually talk about the next morning. But somewhere along the way, a question started forming: What happens when you stop being the thing people expect and start becoming the thing you were meant to be?
The answer, it turns out, is evolution.
Beyond the Bar. Into the Room.
Our rebrand isn’t cosmetic. It’s structural. We’re stepping out of the role of “the bar karaoke DJs,” a title we once wore with pride, and into a broader identity as a community-focused production and sound company with more range.
Today, that means comedy shows. Fashion events. Corporate gatherings. Fundraisers. Community nights that need more than a playlist on shuffle — they need lighting, emcee work, curated energy, and the kind of technical backbone that makes an audience feel held without ever knowing why.
And yes — when what your event calls for is a flawless background soundtrack and nothing more, we still love to do that too.
Growing on Purpose
Here’s the part most people skip when they tell their story: the unsexy middle. The spreadsheets. The receipts. The systems. The conversations about sustainability that don’t make for great social media content, but make everything else possible.
We’re not glossing over any of it.
We’ve recently begun working with the East Central Indiana Small Business Development Center, not for a single consultation, but for the long game. We’re doing the homework. Having the hard conversations. Building the infrastructure behind the scenes so the show out front can keep getting better.
It’s the kind of commitment that separates a side hustle from a craft, and a craft from a career. And we’re making the choice — deliberately, methodically — to close that gap.
Because here’s the truth every working creative eventually learns: the behind-the-scenes work is just as important as the spotlight. Maybe more.
What’s on the Setlist Now
As we grow, so does the repertoire. RoLo Entertainment provides audio and lighting services for live events, and we are starting to dabble in broadcasting and recording. We can also serve as your business event production partner, helping you with event technology, production, exhibit, and entertainment. Here’s a closer look at what we’re bringing to the table:
DJ + MC Services — From community block parties to polished corporate events, we bring energy, structure, and a professional touch that starts well before the first track drops. We collaborate with clients in advance so the night unfolds exactly as it should.
Live Mixing + Production Services — Whether it’s a concert, a broadcast, or a recording session, we offer live mixing, lighting, and full production support tailored to the scale and spirit of your project.
Curated Playlists + Walkaway Sound — Not every event needs a DJ on the mic all night. Sometimes you need a thoughtfully built, ready-to-play playlist and a reliable sound system you can set and forget. We design those, too — dialed in to your vibe and your audience.
Sound + Lighting Rentals — Need the gear without the operator? Whether it’s a workshop, a retreat, or a keynote, we can outfit your space with dependable audio and lighting equipment and walk away — no ego attached.
SINGO (Music Bingo) — One of the newest additions to our lineup, and already a crowd favorite. Imagine bingo, trivia, and a killer playlist fused into one interactive experience. It landed with us at a recent event and clicked immediately. Tailor-made for team-building nights, fundraisers, and any room that could use a reason to get loud together.
Live Sound Support (Case by Case) — Depending on the scale and scope, we can provide sound reinforcement for live performers. And when a gig falls outside our wheelhouse, we won’t fake it — we’ll connect you with trusted professionals who can deliver.
Media + Creative Services — Roger and I are also open to media-making projects beyond the stage. That includes voiceover work, graphic design, and short animations. If you’ve got a creative vision that needs a production-minded team behind it, let’s talk.
What We’re Letting Go Of
Karaoke still has a place in our hearts. It just no longer has a permanent slot on the calendar.
The weekly, year-round karaoke circuit is behind us now, but the community it built isn’t. We maintain a referral list of trusted DJs and karaoke hosts we believe in, and we’re happy to make the introduction. If you’re a DJ or sound engineer looking to get on that list, the door is open.
It’s a small gesture that says a lot about how we see this business: not as a competition, but as a community.
The Encore Is Just Beginning
This isn’t a farewell post. It’s an opening statement.
